The Secret Harbour by-election covers a relatively small region — around 32,000 people.
What do you think the issues are for the people who live here? What do they want government to fix, or to focus on? How many even know there is a by-election happening? How many are across the state and federal issues, and the solutions on offer?
If you split it into local, state and national, here is my read on the top five in each.
Local. The Karnup train station. Cost of living. Housing and rentals. Homelessness. Crime and community safety, particularly around Warnbro.
State. Gas and mining royalties. Ambulance ramping and hospital capacity. Housing supply and land release. Police, the family courts and justice. Cannabis legalisation.
National. The Resource Extraction Levy. Fuel security. Tax reform — the tax-free threshold and capital gains. AUKUS. Immigration.
What are your top five? And what issue would actually make you vote for a party at a state election?
