SOVEREIGN AUSTRALIA DAA — THE PEOPLE’S PORTAL

AUSLLM — YOUR FREE AI

The national AI — owned by the government, free for every Australian, trained on Australian data, run on Australian compute.

One of the six doors of The People’s Portal — the DAA’s key policy. One site, one login: everything your government knows, spends and decides, across local, state and federal.

What This Door Holds

Revised 21 Aug 2026: the AusLLM family — dedicated national AIs for specific sectors — added below.

A national AI that belongs to you. AusLLM is owned by the government, free for every Australian, trained on Australian data and run on Australian compute, with its code open source. Australians currently pay foreign companies for AI; this puts a sovereign one in every pocket at no charge.

What it does. It is the question bar on the front of the Portal: ask anything, and it answers in plain language from the public record, citing the record it drew on. It translates the law, summarises every speech in Parliament within the hour, turns government services into any language, and helps with any form.

Not one AI — a family of them. Beside the general model sit dedicated national AIs built for specific sectors: agricultural AI for precision farming, mining AI for autonomous operations and geological modelling, climate modelling, and science and research models — built under Australian law, owned by Australia permanently. The federal platform already commits to these: the commercial arm sells the same tools across the Asia-Pacific, with the revenue flowing to the national build and the capability staying in Australia. Australians get them free; the world pays for them.

What governs it. The rules for AI — AusLLM’s own operation and AI in the wider economy — are the party’s AI governance policy, held on this door:

AI Governance In development — regulation and governance of AI, including AusLLM itself. The wider national AI programme — sovereign data, AusBrain, the transition unit — is the Future department’s AI & The Future policy.
