Wondering why Australia is signing all these treaties?

Watched an assessment today that puts it plainly: we are a pawn in a much larger contest over who gets to run the world. The treaties, the basing arrangements, the alignment — none of it is really about us. It is about positioning, and we happen to be usefully placed.

That is the thing worth sitting with. A country can be treated as an asset in someone else’s strategy without ever being asked whether it wants the job.
