FIFTY-THREE YEARS OF TRAINING

I am running to become Prime Minister of Australia. Yes, really. High plans and high visions — but look at who is doing the job now and tell me the bar is out of reach.

Look at most of the people running this country and the honest reaction is: hang on a second, what is going on here? We should have the best people running the nation, not career bureaucrats who have never held a job outside a government department.

The way I see it, I have been in training for fifty-three years. Been through the wringer, learnt a great deal, and I know what is wrong with this country and its culture — and how to fix it.

It is time for me, and for all Australians, to stand up to the hidden hands and the plain incompetence of the people running the place.

That diagram is how I have come to see it. A nation is not one pyramid with a leader at the top. It is pyramids within pyramids — families inside communities, communities inside councils, councils inside states, states inside the nation. Every triangle is a whole structure in its own right, and every larger one is built from many smaller ones. Get the small ones right and the big one holds. Hollow them out and nothing above them stands up.

I have spent the last couple of years working on the policy and the plan, learning as much as I can about how all of it actually works. The art is turning those ideas into something that speaks to Australians. These sites are the start, with a lot more unfolding over the coming months.
